Aakriti
01 / PROBLEM

The Problem

A continuous glaze hairline cracking problem was plaguing export-grade vitrified slabs destined for European markets. Surface tests showed normal hardness, but after standard freeze-thaw cycles and stress testing, micro-fractures consistently appeared beneath the surface polish.
02 / INTERVENTION

The Strategic Intervention

Aakriti engineered a cross-sectional dilatometric analysis across all three firing layers: raw tile body, intermediary engobe layer, and top glaze layer. The analysis uncovered a subtle coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) mismatch between the engobe and body.
COMMERCIAL VALUE

Restored export compliance for 1.2M sq. meters of annual production and secured recurring supply contracts across 4 European distributor networks.

03 / THE RESULT

The Result

By reformulating the engobe recipe with precise flux and silica balance, internal stresses were eliminated. The cracking stopped completely with zero rejections on European buyer compliance audits.
